Spinning the discs on the main stage, when I arrived, was the incomparable DJ Sneak from Chicago. While techno beat and rave culture had much of its origin amid the ruins of Detroit, it soon spread around the world.

Center stage at a rave is the DJ, a solo performer who magically synchronizes the throb of electronic drum machines with tracks from up to three different LP records spinning on turntables.
