12th was once lined with store fronts similar to those seen in the background.  Vast stretches of these were destroyed by fire during the riot and the subsequent decline, leaving the street gap toothed.  The area south of this location has long been redeveloped into nice residential housing with a decent strip mall. 

NEIGHBORHOOD MONTAGE

Near this location, a raid on an after hours bar, a Blind Pig in Detroit-speak, ignited the 1967 Detroit Riot.

12th [now Rosa Parks] at Clairmont.  The trinity shaped steel sculpture was the work of my friend, and housemate at the time, Jack Ward, now of Atlanta.  The park is neglected and crumbling, although the sculpture, usually a graffiti canvas, was recently repainted.
