CaseyC replied, "The rumour of the Madison Lenox being torn down to make way for an Ilitch-owned Embassy Suites has been kicking around for a couple of years now. When I first heard back then, I contacted Al Sebastien of Olympia Development and he had no comment only to say they were "master planning" their entire holdings in the Stadia region. I found it disheartening that they would tear down the Madison Lenox and erect an ugly cookie-cutter suburban box embassy suites hotel with all the charm of a Southfield office complex...particularly on Madison, with its green tree-lined boulevard, the restored DAC, Opera House, Gem/Century Theaters and Music Hall....I shudder to picture how an Embassy Suites would fit in to that architectural mix."

Detroit rises started a thread on the fate of the Madison Lennox Hotel with this post,  "This is based on Channels 7's detnow.com web site. The abandoned Madison-Lennox Hotel will be the new site for an Embassy Suites Hotel with at least 175 rooms. This is in line with Detroit's hosting the '06 Super Bowl XL at Ford Field on Brush and Adams."
