The graceful Nancy Brown Peace Carillon celebrates what is music to all people in both countries that make up Detroit -- over one hundred and fifty years as peaceful neighbors.

BYGONE
BELLE ISLE

Separated only by the waters of the Straits of Detroit,om the two-nation city on either side, Belle Isle is blessing of pure joy, nature, and fun.   For well over a century Detroiters have relaxed, played, made love and viewed their great metropolis from this precious island respite.

Belle Isle, unfortunately, is another victim of the City of Detroit's decline and the failure of the metropolis as a whole to come to its aid.   The decimated resources of the old city cannot keep up with the huge expenses of maintaining the island, its monuments and its facilities.
