Stables once capable of housing 1200 horses stood in the back lots of the DRC. Within these confines a unique culture of jockeys, horse trainers, owners, stable hands and horse lovers thrived.

When attempts to get voter approval for allowing alternate forms of gaming at the DRC failed. The property was sold to developers and demolished in the summer of 1999.
