 For decades this abandoned building was the site of the Detroit Artists Market which gave the park a culture flavor throughout the mid 20th Century. A faded mural by Kurt Novak is a reminder of that era.  Its move and the cycling through of other businesses has given the park a perplexing instability.

  Classy restaurants like the Hunter House and Intermezzo have come and gone although the former has relocated in the new Hilton Garden Hotel was erected on the south edge of the park.

The elegant former Adler Schnee Building once housed art galleries and upscale boutiques, but has had difficulty readapting itself.  So is the idea of developing an Africantown concept for this beautiful corner of Detroit a road map to its commercial stability?

"Ruth Adler Schnee, whose Adler/Schnee store was a longtime fixture in Detroit’s Harmonie Park. Schnee adapted designs she created from the 1940s through the 1960s for these 61/2 -by-41/2-inch cards with matching envelopes. Schnee was the owner, with husband Edward, manager, and creative director of Adler/Schnee, which offered innovative design furnishings and other functional items for the home from 1949 to 1977."  Source link
