Default Papantonio: BP and Bloomberg, Kiss My @$$!

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the 8th richest man in America, believes that we're all being just a little too hard on BP and he wants us to take it easy on them. I'm sure that the families of the 11 men killed in the Deepwater Horizon rig explosion would beg to differ. Bloomberg's insensitive remarks, as well as the continued bumbling of the cleanup by BP, are making this disaster much worse than anyone could have imagined. Mike Papantonio appears on MSNBC's The Ed Show to take on Bloomberg and BP.

Default Papantonio: BP's $20 Billion Down Payment

President Obama addressed the nation last night to discuss the oil spill and the government's role in the ongoing issue. Unfortunately, most progressives believe that he failed at taking a stand and showing real leadership on the spill. Mike Papantonio appears on MSNBC's The Ed Show to tell us what Obama should be doing about the crisis.

Default Papantonio: Republicans & Limbaugh Love BP

BP CEO Tony Hayward appeared before Congress today to tell Congressional leaders why his company has failed so badly in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill response and whether or not BP allowed the accident to occur by cutting corners on safety measures. Mike Papantonio appears on MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews to give us the truth that Mr. Hayward was incapable of delivering today.

    Default

The GOP is still out there defending BP even after Rep. Joe Barton had to retract his apology to BP CEO Tony Hayward. First, the Republicans cried that Obama wasn't doing enough about the Gulf oil spill crisis and now they're complaining that he's overstepped his bounds. Mike Papantonio appears on MSNBC's The Ed Show to take on the GOP and their defense of this corrupt corporation.
Note the "deer in the headlights" look.

Default Tasers and the Cops Who Abuse Them

The company Taser International likes to promote their electric stun guns as a non-lethal alternative for police officers to take down suspects. Unfortunately, the statistics show that these stun guns are quickly becoming just as lethal as firearms. To make matters worse, more and more reports are pouring in about police officers abusing the weapons and firing on children, pregnant women, and mentally handicapped people. Mike Papantonio talks with Aaron Watson, an attorney from Pensacola, Florida, who has some insight into the abuse of Tasers by police.

Default Papantonio: Feinberg Will Make BP Pay

Questions are popping up all along the Gulf Coast as to whether or not the $20 billion escrow fund that BP is setting up will be enough to cover the damages of their oil spill and whether or not this means that all the claims will actually be paid. Mike Papantonio appears on The Thom Hartmann Program to tell us a little more about the fund and how those who are victims of BP can get their claims handled.

Default Papantonio: Republicans Love a Criminal Corporation

BP was once again forced to up their estimate of how many gallons of oil are flowing out of their oil geyser in the Gulf of Mexico everyday. This is at least the fifth time they've had to change their guess but just two years ago they were bragging that they had developed technology to determine the exact flow of oil from a well. Does this prove that the company has been lying from the start? Mike Papantonio believes that it does and he appears on GritTV with Laura Flanders to talk about this issue.

Default RFK, Jr. and Dennis Kucinich Discuss US Foreign Policy

While most of the media attention on President Obama right now is focused on General McChrystal, it's important to remember that we're still involved in two serious wars that have fallen out of the spotlight in favor of personal feuds. In addition, the US is also working to flush out the terrorist cells that have been operating in the Middle East for decades. But is President Obama's approach to the Middle East the correct one? According to Congressman Dennis Kucinich, there are a lot of things the president should do differently and recently spoke to Bobby about a few of those items.

Mike Papantonio speaks with attorney Lea Morris about the dangers associated with the prescription drug Reglan which is having some serious adverse effects on consumers. This is just the latest in a long line of dangerous pharmaceuticals that have made it to the market thanks to an FDA that was stuffed with political hacks for 8 years during the Bush administration.

Default RFK, Jr. Discusses Catholic Church Scandals

Pope Benedict announced a few weeks ago that he would be meeting with the families of victims who had been abused by Church leaders. This was a result of the numerous recent complaints coming from parishioners from all over the world. But the current problems in the Catholic Church stem from the way the Church has been operating for decades -- information is suppressed, dissenting views are discouraged, and the truth is kept secret from the world. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. talks about the history of the Church's practice of hiding information with James Carroll, author of Constantine's Sword.

Default The Mystery of the Stock Market Flash Crash

On May 6th of this year the stock market took a tremendous plunge in a matter of minutes sparking fears that the recovery we're seeing in the economy had all been undone. But miraculously, and very suspiciously, the market skyrocketed again and all was fine. We were told that the so-called flash crash was merely the result of a trader with fat fingers who hit the wrong buttons. But Congress isn't so sure about this and the timing of the crash coincided with a vote on a bill that would have broken up the big banks that caused our financial meltdown. Mike Papantonio talks with blogger David DeGraw who has testified before the House Homeland Security Committee in recent weeks to give information about how this crash could have been the work of financial terrorists.

Default Pap and Ed Schultz Discuss "Killer Politics"

Just a few years ago it would have been almost impossible to turn on your radio and hear the voice of a progressive talk show host. The conventional wisdom was that only conservatives could survive on the air and numerous progressive hosts had tried and failed. But when Ed Schultz came on the air he did something that no other progressive host had done -- he got angry. His audience saw that it was ok to be passionate and show emotion and he became a success because he wasn't afraid to tell it like it is. Mike Papantonio talks with Ed Schultz, host of MSNBC's The Ed Show, about uphill battle he faced as well as some of the current problems with our political system.

Default RFK, Jr. Discusses Similarities Between Exxon and BP Oil Spills

A lot of comparisons have been made between the Exxon Valdez oil spill and the current Gulf of Mexico oil spill. While the two events are unique and happened under different circumstances, the best way to predict the future of the Gulf Coast is to look at the past in Alaska and if history is any indication, the residents along the Gulf Coast are facing a tremendous environmental disaster followed by decades of legal battles against BP. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. talks about this with Bob Shavelson, the executive director of the Cook Inletkeeper of Alaska.

Default Papantonio: Closing Corporate Tax Loopholes

When all the tea partiers get together at their rallies to protest their supposedly obscene taxes, one thing they always fail to mention is the fact that most US corporations aren't paying anything in taxes. However, you'll never hear them complaining about that loss of revenue that is driving our nation further into debt. And while the Bush administration created numerous loopholes for these corporations to continue avoiding paying taxes, some members of Congress are finally standing up and doing something about this obscene loss of tax revenue. Mike Papantonio talks with Congressman Tom Perriello from Virginia who has sponsored legislation that would finally close the numerous loopholes that American companies have been taking advantage of to avoid paying taxes.

Default Papantonio: BP is Already Cash-Strapped?

Clean up efforts are underway along the Gulf Coast but is BP really doing everything possible to get the oil out of the environment? All signs point to "no" and the fact that the company is using cheap labor rather than expensive equipment shows that they are more concerned with minimizing their costs than minimizing their environmental damage. Mike Papantonio appears on MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews to discuss this issue.

Default Pap and Cenk Uygur Dissect Goldman Sachs

In mid-June a protest group marched on Washington D.C. to deliver more than six thousand signed petitions that clearly stated that the American people want the Treasury Department to force Goldman Sachs to return the taxpayer funded bailout money they received. Most banks and insurance companies have managed to pay back their loans but Goldman Sachs has decided that they don't have to and this comes after the bank publicly announced that they didn't even need the loan in the first place. Mike Papantonio talks with Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, who led the protest against Goldman Sachs.

Default RFK, Jr. and Senator Whitehouse Discuss Bush Administration Cronyism

Over the last 10 years we've seen plenty of examples of how the Bush Administration crippled regulatory agencies to the point where they became just an extension of private industry. But in just the last 6 months we've seen probably the most devastating disasters that occurred because of the lack of regulation from the federal government -- Those would be the mine collapse that killed 29 workers and the oil rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico that killed 11 workers and is poisoning that entire ecosystem. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. talks about how our regulatory agencies have been taken captive with his good friend Senator Sheldon Whitehouse from Rhode Island.
