Listening to Gasoline Alley has led me into Every Picture Tells a Story which I've been listening to most recently. Reason to Believe is probably my favorite cut here.

Ray, that's not right. [[Although, I confess that Yours Truly knows nothing about it.) No matter what it may be, there's a fair shot that someone, here, is familiar with it.
I have a CD of Argentinian gypsy-folk music, played on bandoneon [[an instrument quite similar to an accordion) and cello. It's called "Ojos Negros," and it's goddam wonderful; I have already raved about it, in this thread, some months back. Now, that's pretty obscure, for sure, but I'll betcha that somebody else, here, knew of it, even if they didn't own a copy.

Jazz lovers: That Dave Holland CD which I mentioned, above? I gotta tell ya... I've owned it for years, and I liked it whenever I've played it, but I re-played it recently, and it sunk its teeth into me really, really deep, and now I can't stop listening to it.
I have a lot of Dave Holland music, but none of it is quite like this one. Terrific, I tell you, terrific.

Kind of tying in with Rod and Gasoline Alley, You-Tubing with some old Small Faces, 'Tin Soldier' and 'Song of a Baker'. Gasoline Alley was a great one, some of his really good stuff that [[not surprisingly) doesn't get any airplay these days.

I'm gonna pull out the Faces box set once I get dinner going, you guys got me all Faces-y. Plus EPTAS, my favorite track is the title track. I was the world's biggest Faces fan as a teenager. I combed my hair in a thousand ways but came out looking just the same.

Funny how the whole record company/contracts thing worked with Rod back in the early 70s - he released solo albums and Faces albums, but they were really all Faces albums! I forget the whole story behind it, but those guys still played with him on the solo albums from what I understand.

Ian McLagan wrote a book about his life called All the Rage, about his early days with the Small Faces and Faces. Hilarious reading.

I was a Rod Faces gal, untll he took completely over and turned disco. The Faces were a spectacular live act, much better than they were on vinyl, much better than their contemporaries the Rolling Stones [[who IMHO sucked as a live act). And I never cared much for Steve Marriot's voice.
