Abandoned Gas Station
Abandoned Gas Station on Second Ave. at Euclid in Detroit.

DetroitYES was created, designed and written as an artist expression.   It is my attempt to use the medium of the website to paint a complex portrait of the city I love by combining images of the city with the voices of its people.

The core site for DetroitYES is the 300 page tour titled The Fabulous Ruins of Detroit [1996-9] whose direction is presented in its prologue.

Since then over 1200 pages have been added in numerous webisodes and mini-tours.

In 1999, the DetroitYES Forums were created to extend the conversation about the problems and promises of the City of Detroit and the surrounding international metropolitan family of communities.

Insight into the directions of this effort can be found in reviews that have been written on the site on the Media Reviews and Links page of this site.

For the technically curious, the site was created using Microsoft FrontPage, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Macromedia Flash and the program that stopped me from painting, Adobe Photoshop.   All photographss have been taken by me. Most early images were shot with a Kodak DC 50 digital camera, later images with a Kodak DC 260 and now a Nikon CoolPix 5000.

My name is Lowell Boileau.
I am a Detroit fine painter and web artist.

Thanks for your interest.
