Stucco falls away from the Detroit Boat detracting from its grand entry bridge.  Water once surrounded the club house but part of it was filled to create a parking lot that now sit empty.

As Detroit's money elite moved further and further from the old city center, membership declined. Changing attitudes and politics took their toll too.  By the 1960's the embarrassing facts of its all Euro - American membership and its generous one dollar a year lease required adjustment.
