Paradise Valley
Another
victim of the stadium projects is the renowned 606 Horseshoe
Lounge.
Throughout
the first half of the Twentieth Century, Detroit's African-American
community was largely confined to a densely populated lower
east side ghetto called the Black Bottom.
That
segregation, while creating a great hardship to the community,
did not prevent the development a vibrant and lively night club
strip called Paradise Valley.
