Finally
the tower settled into a sea of dust that billowed forth like
the pyroclastic flow of a volcano.
A cheer
arose from the photographers, news people and spectators gathered
on the street below, but the old building would have the last
laugh as dense choking clouds of dust soon engulfed them.
Eventually
the dust clouds grew so large that it approached our sixteenth
floor perch and then completely darkened the day for several
minutes.
